Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the TikTok Downloader — Douyin Video Saver Chrome extension (“the Extension”, “we”, or “us”) handles information.
1. Our approach
The Extension is designed to work locally in your browser. You do not need to create an account. Video files and exported CSV files are saved directly to your device.
2. What we never collect
To make the privacy promise easy to verify, here is the explicit list of data the Extension does not collect, transmit, or store on our side:
- Video content or downloaded files — these stay on your device.
- Comment text, usernames, or reply content — never included in analytics or diagnostics.
- Account cookies, login sessions, passwords, or authentication tokens.
- Your IP address in any analytics or diagnostic payload (Geo-IP enrichment is disabled).
- Cross-site browsing activity, search history, or pages outside TikTok and Douyin.
- Personal information used for advertising, credit decisions, or sale to third parties.
3. Information processed to provide the Extension
When you use a supported TikTok or Douyin page, the Extension processes video metadata, available media URLs, titles, video identifiers, and—when you request a comment export—comment data available to that page. This processing is used to create the download or CSV file you requested.
Video files and exported comments are not uploaded to our servers. Comment text, account cookies, passwords, and authentication tokens are not included in our analytics events or diagnostic reports.
4. Information stored in your browser
The Extension uses Chrome local storage to remember:
- download usage count and download-folder preference;
- whether the on-page download controls are collapsed;
- your license key, license instance ID, validation status, and a randomly generated device label if you activate Pro;
- a randomly generated anonymous identifier used to keep reliability events consistent.
This local information remains in your browser until it is cleared or the Extension is removed, subject to Chrome’s behavior.
5. Anonymous reliability analytics
We use PostHog to receive limited, best-effort reliability events so we can understand whether downloads and comment exports succeed. These events may include:
- operation type, supported platform, outcome, and duration;
- selected video quality, download method, and number of fallback candidates;
- a broad comment-count range, but not comment text;
- error code, error stage, Extension version, browser language, Pro/free status, and a random anonymous identifier.
We do not create PostHog person profiles. Geo-IP enrichment is disabled, and the Extension does not place an IP address in the analytics event payload. Analytics requests have a short timeout and are allowed to fail without affecting the Extension’s core functions.
6. Optional diagnostic reports
The Extension provides an optional Report a bug button below the watermark-free download control. After certain errors, it may also offer a Report problem button. Neither action sends a page link automatically. Before anything is sent, the Extension shows the exact current page link and asks for your confirmation.
If you confirm, the report includes a link identifying the current TikTok or Douyin video, its video identifier, the operation and platform, the Extension version, and the anonymous identifier described above. On recommendation pages whose browser address does not change with the selected video, the Extension adds the detected video identifier to the reported link. Error reports also include an error code and stage. These reports do not include comment text, cookies, account information, or downloaded video content. If you cancel, the page link and video identifier are not sent.
7. License activation and payments
Payments and license management are provided by Dodo Payments. When you purchase or activate Pro, Dodo Payments processes the payment and license information under its own terms and privacy policy.
To activate and validate a license, the Extension sends the license key, a randomly generated device label, and the license instance identifier to Dodo Payments. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details in the Extension.
8. Uninstall feedback
When the Extension is removed, Chrome may open an optional feedback form hosted by Google Forms. Completing that form is voluntary. Information you submit is processed by Google and used by us only to improve the Extension.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use Extension data for advertising, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to providing, securing, supporting, and improving the Extension.
PostHog, Dodo Payments, and Google act as service providers for the limited purposes described above. Local Extension data remains until cleared or removed. Analytics, diagnostics, payment, license, and voluntary feedback information may be retained only as reasonably necessary for reliability, support, fraud prevention, accounting, and legal obligations, subject to the relevant provider’s settings and policies.
11. Your choices
- You may decline any optional video-link or diagnostic report. Page links are not sent unless you confirm.
- You may clear the Extension’s local data or uninstall the Extension through Chrome.
- You may contact us with privacy questions or requests.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical measures, including HTTPS connections, limited event fields, request timeouts, and local-first processing. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
13. Children’s privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Extension or its data practices change. The current version and effective date will always be published on this page.
